Why I lowered my tyre pressure
For years I pumped my tyres as hard as the sidewall allowed. Running them softer made the bike faster on real roads.
On rough surfaces, hard tyres bounce instead of rolling. A slightly lower pressure keeps the tyre in contact and feels noticeably smoother.
The right number depends on rider weight and tyre width. I change it in small steps and note how the bike feels on a familiar loop.
